How to make your own Favicon

I'm a day late ~ sorry!

What is a favicon you ask? It's is the little icon that is next to the website name on you address bar and window.

Some examples:

I learned how to do this from April Showers so you can check her tutorial as well.

First you make your icon. You can use any program - photoshop, MS paint, whatever. Save it to  your computer.

Then go to a free favicon generator site like IconJ. This is the site I used and it's pretty easy. You set up a free account and then upload the icon that you created. It will generate html code for your picture.

Once you see that it has generated the code, go back to your blog. Make sure you are logged in. Go into "Layout." Then "Edit HTML." Find the < / head > tag located near the bottom of your HTML.

Copy your code generated from the icon website and paste it right above < / head > tag.  That should work. Good luck! Let me know if you have any questions!

How to change your comments field

I just learned how to do this and I love it! I've always wondered how to customize the "comments" link on my posts. It  is super easy!

Go to the Design section of your blog.

Find the section for Blog Posts and click on Edit.

There are lots of things you can change here, but you'll notice you can type in whatever you like in the "comments" field.

Then click on Save. How super easy  is that!!!

How to make your own navigation bar

Go to the Posting tab in your blog dashboard/design. Go to Edit Pages

Click on New Page and it will look like a New Post page.

Enter whatever you would like the title and your post to be. The title is what the reader will see as a link to click on. These will act as stand alone posts to direct your reader to the new page when they click on the link. If you are adding more than one link, you may want to be mindful of the lengths of your titles. If they are too long, they may not fit on one line.

Next go to your Design view and Add a Gadget.

Select Pages to add. In this widget, you can select the order that you want your pages to appear and how you want them displayed (on the sidebar or across the top).

How to add cute "buttons" to your side bar

First you need to get the code for the button. If the blogger wants you to be able to put their button on your blog, they will normally put a text box for the code under the button.  See mine below under my Followers on my sidebar. So if anyone were to grab my button and post it on their side bar (please do!), a reader can click on the button and it will take them to my blog.

After you have copied the code (select all of the code and hit Ctl+C or right click and copy), go to your Blog design and layout page. Click on Add a Gadget on top of the side bar gadgets. Click on HTML/Javascript  and then enter the code that you copied from the button into the content box. You do not need to enter a title. You can then click on Rich Text to see what the button will look like on your page. Click on Save. Then you can re-arrange the page elements and your side bar by clicking and dragging the boxes around. You can preview your changes and then save once you are satisfied.

On Tuesdays, I will (hopefully!) be posting tips and tutorials about sprucing up your blog or photography.

How to Add a Signature to You Posts:

Go to mylivesignature.com to create your "signature. " You can either use samples that are already on the site, draw one, or submit a scanned image of your actual signature.

Once you pick which one you want to use, the site will take you through the steps. When you have finished creating your signature, click on "Want to use this signature?" Click on General HTML code & then Generate a code for my  handwritten signature.

Copy the HTML Generated code for your signature. Then go into your blog Settings and Formatting. Scroll down to the bottom to the Post Template setting. Paste the HTML code here. Then click on Save Settings.

Now you will see the signature or code at the bottom of every new post you do.
